Drawing from Middletown

Some of the most recent paintings for my "Middletown Garden" project.

Bright Lights Cosmos- At last!

I grew these from seeds, and I was worried they would never bloom, but finally they have arrived. Some of these, unfortunately, got eaten by a deer, but those seem to be recovering nicely. Not sure when, if ever, they will bloom though. So far both flowers that bloomed are orange, but they are supposed to be a mix of yellows, oranges and reds. We'll have to see! They are quite bright though, as advertised!

Never doubt the comeback power of the New York Yankees...

Every year around this time some sportscaster on ESPN with way too much time to think about sport statistics makes the prediction that the Yankees will not make it to the postseason. Well, immediately after I hear that prediction, like clockwork the Yankees start playing the best baseball of their lives and suddenly they're right back in the thick of things and everyone is talking about how they knew the Yankees would be in the chase. Mind you, these are the same guys that somewhere around May 15 start talking about how this is a "rebuilding" season for the Yankees. All I have to say is this. Watch out number crunching sportscasters... because here they come again!

New Poll- Kristin wants to know!

O.k., so I posted pictures of our new couches and Kristin left a comment wondering what other people did with their economic stimulus check...
I realize for some people this check was bigger than it was for others, but it is a fun thing to hear about. Feel free to leave additional comments to the post after you vote!

New Couch and Loveseat!

Here are the NEW lazyboy reclining couch and love seat. This is what we spent our economic stimulus check on, and boy was it worth it! : ) Of course, we also waited close to six years to buy new furniture, so we were getting it regardless of our check, but it sure did help!

And there it goes...

The end of an era as the old couches finally leave...with some other choice stuff.

Drawing from Middletown

My art course this summer is called Drawing from Middletown. It is an open ended course about creating a visual project that is going to, in the end, represent a piece of Middletown.

My inspiration: my garden
My idea: flowers of Middletown
My materials: photos, and then some sort of drawings??
My hope: bold, beautiful colors
My fear: that Middletown is somehow missing
